Meet the Team
The hearts and hands behind Percy’s world
A little bit about us
At the heart of Percy’s Adventures is a small, passionate team of storytellers, illustrators, educators, and dog lovers—each one dedicated to creating books that help children grow in confidence, kindness, and curiosity.
Together, we bring Percy’s world to life - from the page to the playground.
Rebecca Lyons
- Author -
Becky is an adolescent life coach, animal lover, and mum to three brilliant daughters. She lives in the UK with her husband, girls and two dogs, where there’s always plenty of laughter, muddy boots, and creative chaos.
The idea for Percy’s Adventures was born during one of Becky’s farm-sitting stays, when a cheeky little Patterdale named Percy would sneak off on late-night woodland escapades. As she waited up for his return, Becky began imagining the magical meetings he might be having — and the stories began to write themselves.
Through her work with young people and her deep love of animals, Becky weaves gentle, meaningful lessons into every Percy story — helping children explore emotions, build confidence, and feel safe in their own skin.
Her dream is to create a centre where families can connect with nature, animals, and each other — and Percy’s world is just the beginning.
Jennifer Rae Phillips
- Illustrator -
Jenny is an illustrator, artist, and lifelong animal lover who has always found joy in bringing animals to life on the page. Over the past several years, she’s been lucky enough to turn that passion into a career - working professionally as an illustrator and creating custom pet portraits that celebrate the special bond between people and their animals. Her interest in animals has always been at the heart of her creative work, and it’s led to a growing community of supportive followers online. Through that community, she’s had the chance to take on meaningful projects and connect with others who share her love for animals and art. In 2023, she wrote The Animal Drawing Primer, a book for artists looking to build confidence in drawing animals. It’s been a rewarding way to share what she’s learned and encourage others on their own creative paths. These days, she’s excited to be working on a new illustration project with Percy's Adventures that brings together everything she loves—art, pets, and the joy of capturing the spirit of animals in a way that feels personal and genuine
Susi Boyd
- Graphic Designer -
After graduating with a degree in Graphic Design in 1986, Susi worked in design groups in Hong Kong, London and Sydney before she set up Boyd & Co, her graphic design consultancy specialising in corporate literature and identities, in 1994. Having always been dog and horse mad, Susi moved out of London so she could finally have work, dogs and her horses at home. Susi met Becky over 15 years ago, when Becky came to help her out with the horses. Their friendship flourished, based on a mutual love for animals, family, outdoor life and laughter, and they kept in touch even after Susi moved away in 2018. Susi was semi-retired when Becky approached her to help pull together a series of children’s books she'd conceived. Having always said that if the right project came along, she’d jump at the chance, this was definitely it…the opportunity to weave Becky’s wonderful tales of Percy with Jen’s exquisite illustrations really has felt like serendipity, and she can’t wait to get her teeth into the next adventure…

Tamara Tate
- Marketing & Website Design -
Hi, I’m Tamara – the magic behind the scenes!
While I’m not the author of these delightful children’s books, I am the one who brought this playful corner of the internet to life! As a digital marketing strategist and website designer, I specialise in creating beautiful, user-friendly websites that don’t just look good—they work brilliantly too.
By day, I help growing businesses build standout brands and attract the right audience through organic digital marketing. By night, I’m hanging out with my 8-year-old twin girls (who double as my in-house art critics), fielding long, soulful stares from the dog who thinks it's always time for a walk or a ball toss, and trying to stop the cat from sitting on my keyboard... again.
I’m also a big lover of all things arty - fashion, photography, colour theory - you name it.
I believe clarity creates momentum - and that even the most whimsical stories deserve a website that’s smart, strategic, and just a little bit magical.
