Mother Fox in the Story
Mother Fox is kind, patient, and always trying her best to look after her little ones.
She loves her cubs more than anything, but even she gets overwhelmed when things get a bit wild!
In Hide and Seek Cubs, she teaches us how to ask for help when we feel worried - and reminds us that even grown-ups don’t always have all the answers.
This story is perfect for helping children talk about worry, bravery, and helping others.
Cub 1 - Flick

The bold explorer. Flick is always first to run into a game, even if she’s not sure of the rules.
Cub 2 - Fae

The joker. Fae loves jumping into piles of leaves and jumping out at her siblings for a scare!
Cub 3 - Finn

The smallest and the swiftest. Finn is clever and quick, but sometimes he hides a little too well…

What Can We Learn?
Use the story and these characters to open conversations with children about courage, kindness, and safe independence.

Staying safe while playing

Listening to others and being helpful

The power of asking for help

Talking Time - Reflection Questions
Use these after reading the story, during bedtime or during circle time.
Why do you think the fox cubs were being a bit naughty and not going to sleep?
(Do you think they were bored, curious, or full of energy?)
Have you ever helped someone before?
(How did it make you feel inside when you helped?)
Percy used his nose to find us. What special things can you do to help when something is tricky?
(Are you a good listener, a fast runner, or good at finding things?)
We were just playing, but it got a bit too wild! How can we make sure our play doesn’t cause problems for others?
(What’s a good way to have fun and be careful?)

Percy's Pick of the Month
This month’s favourite from the whispering woods
Each story brings something special - but every now and then, one stands out for the way it sparks conversation, comfort, or a little extra courage.
This month, we’re loving Percy’s After-Dark Adventure: Hide and Seek Cubs - a gentle tale of bravery, helping others, and the magic of hide-and-seek under starlit skies.
